Knights of Labor



Knights of Labor, U.S. labor organization founded in 1869 in Philadelphia. Some of its goals were an 8-hour work day, abolition of child labor, and equal pay for equal work. It led successful strikes in 1884–86, but declined after the Haymarket Square riot in Chicago in 1886.
