Kush



Kush, ancient kingdom located along the Nile River in what is now Sudan. Lasting from about 2000 B.C. to A.D. 350, Kush was an important center of trade and learning. Exports included cattle and gold. It was also an important slave trading center. The people of Kush developed their own spoken language, writing system, architectural styles, and religion. Exact details of the kingdom's decline and end remain unknown.
