Lacewing

Lacewing, insect of the order Neuroptera, named for its double pair of delicate, lacy wings. The two most common families are the green or golden-eyed lacewings (Hemerobiidae) and the smaller brown lacewings (Chrysopidae). These insects are also called stinkflies because of the strong odor they emit to repel predators. Larvae, often called aphid lions, use their large jaws to suck fluids from aphids and other insects.
