Lake Albano

Lake Albano, crater lake inside an extinct volcano in west-central Italy, southeast of Rome in the Albani hills. Lake Albano served as a vacation spot for ancient Romans and is still a site for resorts, including Castel Gandolfo, the papal summer residence.
