Louis L'Amour
L'Amour, Louis (1908–1988), popular U.S. novelist who wrote stories about the American frontier, many of which have been adapted for film and television. He is noted for his compassionate treatment of Native Americans and Mexicans and for the authenticity of his historical and geographic detail. Much of his material was drawn from his own travels in the West as well as from the stories told to him by his grandfather. His most popular novels include Hondo (1953), The Daybreakers (1960), and The Lonesome Gods (1983).
