Land reform

Land reform, governmental redistribution of land ownership, the purpose of which is to lessen the personal wealth, power, and political influence accorded those with large land holdings. Land reform is usually utilized at times of social or political unrest to more fairly distribute land, particularly farmlands, to those with little or no land of their own. The recipients of land are often given technical training, favorable financing, and low tax rates.
