Lima bean

Lima bean, any of several highly nutritious beans of the pea family, rich in protein. Native to tropical America, lima beans are now grown in warm climates throughout the world. The beans grow in 2- to 3-in (5- to 7.6-cm)-long pods on a bush, or on a vine that can be trained to grow on trellises or poles.
