Andrew Lloyd Webber

Lloyd Webber, Andrew (1948– ), popular British composer whose first success was the musical Jesus Christ Superstar (1971). His other musicals include Evita (1978), a fictional account of the life of Eva Peron; Cats (1981), based on the poems of T.S. Eliot; and The Phantom of the Opera (1986), based on Gaston Leroux's novel.
