Hugh Lofting

Lofting, Hugh (1886–1947), English-born U.S. author and illustrator of the famous Dr. Dolittle stories, begun in letters to his children during World War I. The Voyages of Dr. Dolittle , the second in the series, won him the Newbery medal in 1923.
