London

London (pop. 381,500), manufacturing and commercial city on the Thames River in southeast Ontario, Canada. Settled by British colonists on Iroquois land in 1826, London was destroyed by fire in 1845, but soon rebuilt. Today it is the home of more than 300 manufacturing plants, producing goods such as beverages, foods, diesel vehicles, chemical and electrical products, and telephone equipment.
