Louvre



Louvre, historic palace in Paris, mostly built during the reign of Louis XIV, now one of the world's largest and most famous art museums. Its treasures include paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens, Titian, and Leonardo da Vinci, whose Mona Lisa is there. Other masterpieces in its collection are the painting Arrangement in Gray and Black, known as “Whistler's Mother,” and the Greek statues, the Venus of Milo and Victory of Samothrace (“Winged Victory”).
