Luxembourg
Luxembourg (pop. 77,000), capital and largest city of the country of Luxembourg, located on a plateau above the Alzette and Petrusse rivers. It is an international financial center. Luxembourg grew up around a castle built by Siegfried, count of Ardennes, in A.D. 963. A picturesque city, its points of interest include the Grand Ducal Palace (16th century) and the Cathedral of Notre Dame (early 17th century).
