Hugh MacDiarmid



MacDiarmid, Hugh (Christopher Murray Grieve; 1892–1978), Scottish poet. Founder of the Scottish Nationalist Party, he gave fresh impetus to Scottish literature. He is best known for the long rhapsodic poem A Drunk Man Looks at the Thistle (1926).
