Thomas Macdonough



Macdonough, Thomas (1783–1825), U.S. naval officer who defeated the British at the decisive Battle of Pittsburgh (1814) on Lake Champlain, N.Y., during the War of 1812. His victory saved New York and Vermont from invasion.
