Madison

Madison (pop. 176,000), state capital of Wisconsin, seat of Dane County, in south-central Wisconsin. The city is home to the main campus of the Univ. of Wisconsin, state government buildings, and facilities for manufacturing, trade, finance, and research. Popular for recreation, 3 lakes are found within the city borders: Mendota, Monona, and Wingra.
