Maurice Maeterlinck
Maeterlinck, Maurice (1862–1949), prolific Belgian poet and playwright influenced by French symbolists. His works include the tragedy Pelléas et Mélisande (1892), set as an opera by his friend Debussy, Manna Vanna (1902), and the dramatic fable The Blue Bird (1909). He was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 1911.
