Mahabharata



Mahabharata, Sanskrit epic poem ascribed to the sage Vyasa, comprising some 110,000 32-syllable couplets, probably written before 500 B.C. though with many later passages in 18 books. It concerns the lengthy feud between 2 related tribes, the Pandavas and the Kauravas, and has as its central episode the Bhagavad-Gita, the religious classic of Hinduism.
