Manic-depressive disorder
Manic-depressive disorder, or bipolar disorder, mental illness characterized either as mania (excitement, irrational judgment, increase in activity) or depression (lethargy, feelings of worthlessness, guilt), and, in some cases, alternating between mania and depression. Treatment involves the drug lithium, to control mood swings, and anti-depressants.
