Marajó
Marajó, Brazilian island in the mouth of the Amazon River. With an area of 15,500 sq mi (40,000 sq km), Marajó lies between the Amazon to the north, the Rio Pará to the south, and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. The island is flooded by river overflow 6 months of the year, and cattle and water buffalo graze the grasslands left by the flooding during the dry season.
