Marne River
Marne River, chief tributary of the Seine River, France, rising on the Langres Plateau of eastern France and flowing through 310 mi (500 km) of rich farmland before joining the Seine southeast of Paris. Several key battles fought there during World War I saved Paris from being overrun by the German army.
