Massasoit

Massasoit (1580?–1661), powerful Wampanoag chief who signed a treaty with the Pilgrims under Governor John Carver of Plymouth Colony in 1621. He befriended the Plymouth colony, teaching the settlers how to survive, and kept up friendly relations until his death.
