Mastodon

Mastodon, any of a genus (Mammut) of the extinct mammals resembling elephants. Different from mammoths and elephants because of their molar teeth, they sometimes had 4 tusks (2 on the lower jaw, 2 on the upper jaw). Forest dwellers, mastodons lived in Africa during the Oligocene epoch.
