Mary McCarthy
McCarthy, Mary (1912–89), U.S. writer, best known for her satirical novel The Group (1963), about the lives of a generation of Vassar graduates. Her nonfiction works include Memories of a Catholic Girlhood (1957), Vietnam (1967), and a body of outstanding literary criticism.
