George Meany
Meany, George (1894–1980), U.S. labor leader, president (1955–79) of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO). He was president of the New York State Federation of Labor (1934) and secretary-treasurer (1939) and president (1952) of the AFL.
