Mennonites

Mennonites, Protestant sect originating among the Anabaptists of Zurich, Switzerland. They became particularly influential in the Netherlands, and are named for the Dutch reformer Menno Simons. They base their faith solely on the Bible, believe in separation of Church and State, pacifism, and baptism only for adults who renounce sin. They are known for the strict simplicity of their life and worship. The Amish Church is a well-known, conservative division of the Mennonites in the United States.
