Yehudi Menuhin



Menuhin, Yehudi (1916– ), U.S. violinist and conductor. He made his concert debut in San Francisco at age 7, played for Allied forces in World War II, and later performed to raise cash for war victims. He has revived forgotten masterpieces, promoted interest in Eastern music, and toured internationally with the Menuhin Festival Orchestra. In 1963 he opened the Yehudi Menuhin School of Music for musically gifted children in Suffolk, England.
