Methadone
Methadone, synthetic narcotic used extensively to treat heroin addicts. Methadone causes less severe and dangerous withdrawal symptoms than other narcotic drugs, although it is also addictive. It is also used as an analgesic, particularly in terminally ill patients, and sometimes in very small doses as a cough suppressant.
