Micronesia

Micronesia (Federated States of), Island state of 670 islands and atols in the western Pacific Ocean. Formerly part of the UN Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, Micronesia became independent in 1990. Despite its independence, foreign policy and defense are administered by the US government. The US use a number of islands as a military base.
