George Augustus Moore
Moore, George Augustus (1852–1933), Irish writer. Influenced by the realism and naturalism of Honoré de Balzac and Émile Zola, he stirred English literary society with his realistic novels Esther Waters (1894) and Héloise and Abélard (1921). He contributed greatly to the Irish renaissance revival and to the success of the Abbey Theatre.
