John Hunt Morgan
Morgan, John Hunt (1825–64), Confederate general in the U.S. Civil War, famous for his skilled and daring raids behind Union lines. His great raid (1863) through Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio ended in his capture, but he escaped to resume fighting until killed at Greenville, Tenn.
