John Singleton Mosby

Mosby, John Singleton (1833–1916), Confederate U.S. Civil War hero who led Mosby's Partisan Rangers, a cavalry troop known for its daring raids behind enemy lines in Maryland and Union-occupied Virginia. After the war he became a Republican and entered government service.
