Moscow Art Theater
Moscow Art Theater, influential Russian repertory theater famed for its ensemble acting and its introduction of new techniques in stage realism. Founded in 1897 by Konstantin Stanislavski and Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko, it introduced plays by Chekhov, Dostoyevsky, Gorky, and Tolstoy.
