Nikolai Gennadievich Basov
Basov, Nikolai Gennadievich (1922– ), Russian physicist who, with his colleague Alexander Prokhorov, stated the principles of using molecular energy to amplify radio waves. They shared the 1964 Nobel Prize in physics with the U.S. physicist Charles H. Townes.
