Basset hound
Basset hound, short-legged, long, heavy-bodied, long-eared dog. Averaging 12–14 in (30–36 cm) in height and 45–60 lb (20–27 kg) in weight, the basset is a scent hound originally bred for hunting by the abbots of St. Hubert in France.
