Baudouin



Baudouin (1930–93), fifth king of the Belgians. He spent World War II with his family in Nazi internment, and succeeded his father, King Leopold III, who abdicated in 1951. In 1960 Baudouin proclaimed Congolese independence. He married a Spanish noblewoman, now Queen Fabiola. Succeeded by his brother Albert.
