Gunning Bedford Jr.



Bedford, Gunning, Jr. (1747–1812), U.S. lawyer, statesman, and signer of the Constitution. Bedford attended the Constitutional Convention as a delegate from Delaware and played a major part in the drafting and ratification of the Constitution. He was appointed judge of the U.S. District Court for Delaware by George Washington in 1789.
