Beer

Beer, alcoholic beverage known since ancient times, made by fermenting cereals. Ale, stout, porter, and lager are varieties of beer. Today beer is produced worldwide but the beers of Germany and Holland are especially popular. In the United States the average beer consumption per person is over 20 gallons a year. The alcohol content of beer can range from 2 to 6%.
