Clifford Whittingham Beers
Beers, Clifford Whittingham (1876–1943), founder of the U.S. mental health movement. His autobiographical A Mind That Found Itself (1908), an account of his three years in a mental institution, informed the public of the abuses and injustices inflicted on the mentally ill.
