Lloyd Millard Bentsen Jr.

Bentsen, Lloyd Millard, Jr. (1921– ), U.S. Senator. As a Texas Democrat, he served 3 terms in the U.S. House of Representatives (1949–55) and won election to the U.S. Senate (1970), defeating George Bush. In 1988 he was the running mate of unsuccessful Democratic presidential candidate Michael Dukakis. Bentsen won reelection to the Senate.
