Mother Bloor



Bloor, Mother (Ella Reeve Bloor; 1862–1951), U.S. radical activist. She participated in the temperance and women's suffrage movements and was a Socialist Party organizer (1902–19) before cofounding the U.S. Communist Party (1919). Called the “Matron Saint” of the party, she served on its national committee (1932–48).
