Anicius Manlius Severinus Boethius
Boethius, Anicius Manlius Severinus (c.480–525), Roman philosopher and statesman whose works profoundly influenced medieval thought. A high official under Theodoric the Great, he was accused of treason and executed. While in prison, he wrote his great work, The Consolation of Philosophy.
