Henry St. John Bolingbroke t Viscount (1s)
Bolingbroke, Henry St. John, 1st Viscount (1678–1751), English statesman and historian. A Tory, as secretary of state he successfully handled the negotiations for the Treaty of Utrecht (1713). He lost office on the death of Queen Anne, and sought exile in France (1715–25).
