Saint Bonaventure



Bonaventure, Saint (1221–74), Italian medieval scholastic philosopher and theologian. He taught at Paris and later became Master General of the Franciscan order. He distinguished between philosophy, based on humanity's natural knowledge, and theology, which attempts to understand the Christian mysteries.
