Braxton Bragg

Bragg, Braxton (1817–76), Confederate Civil War general. He led the Army of Tennessee to defeat William S. Rosencrans at Chickamauga (1863), but soon lost to Ulysses S. Grant at Chattanooga, after which he forfeited his command.
