Louis Dembitz Brandeis



Brandeis, Louis Dembitz (1856–1941), U.S. jurist, influential in securing social, political, and economic reforms, especially while an associate justice of the Supreme Court (1916–39). As a lawyer he crusaded for organized labor against big business interests. Brandeis was an active Zionist. Brandeis University was named in his honor.
