James Henry Breasted
Breasted, James Henry (1865–1935), U.S. archaeologist and historian, who advanced archaeological research in Egypt and western Asia. He specialized in Egyptology, and in 1919 organized the Oriental Institute at the University of Chicago, subsequently sponsoring expeditions at Megiddo and Persepolis.
