Craig Breedlove



Breedlove, Craig (1937– ), U.S. racing-car driver. He set many records in Spirit of America, a car he designed and built himself. In 1963 he was the first U.S. driver since 1928 to hold the world land speed mark, achieving an average velocity of 407.45 mph (655.73 kph). Breedlove broke the 600 mph (966 kph) mark in the jetpowered Spirit of America-Sonic I, reaching 600.6 mph (966.6 kph) in 1965.
