Bristlecone pine

Bristlecone pine, evergreen tree (Pinus aristata) native to the Rocky Mountains of the United States. Some bristlecone pines are thought to be more than 4,000 years old, possibly the oldest living things on earth. The long life of the needles helps the tree survive years of harsh weather, when few new needles can grow.
