Bronze Age
Bronze Age, phase of history in which metal was first used to make tools and weapons. Copper and bronze were used interchangeably in the first stage, called the Copper Age. Bronze casting began in the Middle East about 3500 B.C. and in the Americas, about 1100 A.D.
