Robert Broom



Broom, Robert (1866–1951), Scottish anatomist and paleontologist, discoverer of fossils of the humanlike Australopithecus. From 1903 he lived in South Africa, where he taught at Victoria College and studied the fossils, important for their bearing on human evolution. His writings include Mammal-Like Reptiles of South Africa (1932) and The South African Fossil Apemen (1946).
